Are you having trouble decorating a large space in your home? Does your office space feel too big?  Try these pro-tips.

You moved into a new house, and it is vast. You have never decorated a large space like this before and are at your wit’s end about how to make it feel like home.  A large space can feel too open or cold and can be a decorating challenge. Don’t worry; here are some pro-tips to make these spaces feel more intimate.

1)   Use Visual Dividers

Visual Dividers can be a great way to cut a large space in half, so it seems smaller, cozier, and more intimate. For example, if you have a massive living room; strategically position a large sofa or table to separate areas in the room.

2)   Wall Design

Wall design is an excellent way to create spatial illusions. All you need is to follow simple hacks. The first hack is to color your walls a darker color. Lighter, warmer colors tend to open up space while darker colors close it off more.

The second hack is to decorate your walls with photos, art, wall hangings, banners, and tapestries.

The décor will give a homey, intimate sensation and will close off the large space. Remember to avoid mirrors, however, because they reflect light and open up interior spaces.

3)   Furniture Spacing

When you need to reduce the size of a space, you need to be smart about furniture. Do not shove all of your sofas, tables, and cabinets up against a wall. Instead, spread them out across the room.

Select large furniture pieces like family sofa sets. When you float them around the room, they will define their own sections and cut off space into more intimate zones.

Statement pieces like ottomans, chests, and carpets will splice a large space into tinier zones and make it seem your own.
